Despite being potless, we are signing Mr Brookes from Warwickshire
I'm ignorant. Is he good? Averages 38 and 20....its just they are the wrong way round.
Where does this come from? link, please!
No link,just an excellent source
As long as it is not the same source that had Lewis Gregory signing a few months back.
My recollection is that Henry Brookes started off his bowling career very well but for whatever reason (injuries? Warwickshire signing every Gloucestershire seamer they can lay their has on?) has gone backwards in terms of statistics. He could be a gamble - a diamond waiting to be polished or a potential perennial "two weeks from fitness". If he is a gamble he might also be cheapish and Simmo's departure must have freed up a decent amount of budget. O would not have thought that a new seamer was a priority though, unless one of our existing guys is also about to flee.
They are certainly keen to strengthen the quick bowling resources and have enquired as to the potential availability of quite a few, of which Brookes may be one, but a long way from making him or anyone else an offer according to my ''sources''.
Well I did tell you
Paid for by the Chelmsford matches, I suppose.
TRJ is surely our only ageing bowler now. Helm and Higgins have not hit 30 yet. Bamber, Cullen, Andersson. A considerably younger attack than when we had Murts, Finn and James Harris in the team. I hope that Brookes brings something different, like Jones the Grunt did, with real pace. I've seen quite a few 90mph bowlers in my time who have rarely got near that when I've been watching! Or have permanently lost a few mph following injury. Or (like that left arm quick we had a few years ago from Hampshire) threaten the slips and fine leg more than the batsman.
I am inclined to share your sceptisism,as it was some time ago that he was timed at 90mph,since which time he has suffered a few injury problems which have severely restricted his playing time. I sincerely hope he is fully recovered and wish him much luck and success at Middlesex. His brother also recently moved from Warwickshire to another county which may indicate neither was entirely happy in that environment.
