Many of you will know Nick Gandon, an extraordinary individual who has made a profound impact on MCC and cricket generally. A year ago, Nick was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer, and while his time with us may sadly be limited, he has channelled his remarkable energy into creating a lasting legacy.

Together with the late Simon Prodger, Nick has launched the Gandon Prodger Legacy Fund (GPLF). This fund supports four amazing causes that use cricket to bring about transformational change for disadvantaged young people:
• Empowering slum communities in Nairobi, Kenya, through cricket and education.
• Supporting Syrian refugees in Lebanon with new schools and cricket programmes.
• Promoting mental health, wellbeing, and inclusion in the UK through cricket.
• Helping the homeless, refugees, and ex-offenders in the UK via sport and education.
One of the fund's flagship initiatives is the SleepOut at Lord’s Cricket Ground on 27th February 2025, which aims to raise over £500,000. Additionally, the Pass the Bat On (Pass the baton – geddit?) project refurbishes used cricket bats to make the game more affordable while reducing waste and raising funds from the sale of the refurbished bats to support the other causes
Nick kindly invited me to the launch at Lord’s this evening and I made a short video introducing this initiative, which I’ve attached HERE (https://www.youtube.com/shorts/7OSxXWv1P9E). I urge you to watch it and consider supporting this incredible cause, which reflects everything Nick and Simon stood for.
