Next years 20 over World Cup in the Caribbean and USA means there will be no four day cricket between the first couple of days of July and the end of August- but potentially even worse news from 2025 as it appears certain counties would again like to reduce the amount of cricket played.

Now that we have entered the world of Bazball, I wonder if we actually need county cricket to prepare Test team players? Maybe it is superfluous - especially if no one goes to watch it. One of the many reasons that I am glad I am in my 70s and not in my 30s! God help that lot in 30-40 years' time.

I think it is possible that Fingers has identified the ECB's plans for county cricket.

Well that is strange because you may recall that several of the Australian team played our first class county cricket just prior to the Ashes series!!
