Ben captains The Test team to victory without batting, bowling or keeping wicket in the game. Never happened before

Yes, I heard them mention that on the radio but it has to be a worry that he is not going to be properly fit for the Ashes. Possibly a blessing in disguise that he didn’t have to do too much in this match.

He bowled in the nets yesterday with no ill effects and is confident of being fully fit for the first Test.

I saw the interview quoted on BBC in which he said that "The knee is in a much better place than what it was in Wellington.[...] Unless I can't walk, I'll be on the field." https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/65766581

As someone who was in Wellington to witness his performance I will say that is very good news as he was a liability in that Test. Which isn't to say The Black Caps would not have won, just that he gave away far too many runs in the field and with his 2 overs of bowling.

However, the idea that he will play "unless he can't walk" is concerning. I would hope the captain of England would say something along the lines of "I will only play if I am 100% fit". Time will tell, as always, but the Aussies are like sharks in targeting any weakness. If he misses any time due to his knee then I will not be best pleased; and if he wins the Ashes with five Tests worth of top-quality bowling and batting then I will hold my hands up and say I was wrong to doubt him.

Mo to the rescue !
Not sure whether this is the correct decision ,but will certainly strengthen the batting .

For the first 2 tests - not clear whether that it to see how it gets on, or whether there is a plan B, if he doesnt enjoy it.
