Was that the same season that we were ambushed on a greentop at Chelmsford and bowled out for 80 odd by Pringle and Lever but saved the match by getting 600+ second time around on what became a road by tea on day one? I was there on day one and it was pretty obvious that Essex had gambled on getting Middlesex in first (at that stage they were some way behind us in the table) which I thought was a bit naughty. Richard Ellis took a great diving catch at long leg, which is about all I can remember doing for us!
